Microfluidics manufactures a unique piece of laboratory and process equipment that has the ability to introduce large shear forces to a liquid suspension to accomplish deagglomeration, particle size reduction, emulsification, microencapsulation, or cell disruption. The shear rates far exceed standard homogenizers. The Microfluidizer uses a combination of high pressure (up to 40,000 psi) with a patented interaction chamber that has a fixed geometry to produce uniform and reproducible results. Flow rates on the various machines range from 300 ml/min to 20 gal/min. Due to the unique design, Microfluidics guarantees scale up from bench top to production units.
